Senior Macro Economic Specialist

Lao Nationality

The GIZ Human Resource Development for a Market Economy Programme (HRDME III) is continuing to emphasize Lao policy decision makers to enhance the economic frame condition grant. HRDME III is currently seeking for one Lao national to fill the position of Senior Macro Economic Specialist

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Duration of Assignment: until July 2014, with the possibility of extension

Work Location: Vientiane Capital

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Under the responsibility and supervision of the GIZ Program Director and in direct cooperation with the national line agency at national and province level (LNCCI and MPI), the Senior Macro Economic Specialist has to fulfill tasks as below:

• analysis Lao Law concerning the private sector, trade and the economic development

• contributes to preparing and implementing the coordination/communication process with relevant authorities, joint programme activities

• monitors the development and implementation of the programme plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts

• develops and organises quality assurance measures and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives

• ensures cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with relevant Lao authorities

• draws up reports and presentation documents

• Contribute to other tasks as assigned by the GIZ supervisor

Experience and Qualifications:

• Masters/MSc or doctorate in economics/Business or related fields

• Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)

• Proficient computer skills (MS Office, data management, email)

• Good communication skills

• Ability and willingness to work in a team of national / international experts

• Ability to work in hard demanding conditions with frequent travel to provinces/remote areas

• Personal flexibility and high motivation

• At least 5 years of experience in the related position

• Gender Knowledge is an advantage
