Job DescriptionProject Manager (1 National) CIDSE-Laos Background CIDSE Laos is now the only INGO in the country dedicated to representing rural people in their struggle to obtain greater security over the natural resources which their livelihoods depend on. CIDSE strategy to do this is double sided: first is the strengthening of the rule of law through legal awareness raising at the community, government and civil society levels. We believe is not until people understand and respect laws that a just society can develop. Second is involvement in increasing land tenure security by working though and improving government land policy. CIDSE feels that land rights are very important for the rural communities we work with. CIDSE-Laos MISSION Use strong local, regional and international networks to raise the awareness of natural resource use in village livelihoods in order to strengthen Land use policy and, to empower We are searching for the best candidates according to the following criterion: • Strong understanding and passion for supporting the CIDSE vision and mission as well as the objectives of the two projects • Project management, especially monitoring and evaluation skills • Strong report-writing skills • Strong communication skills, both written and oral • Training/facilitation skills • Good word processing and spreadsheet skills MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To manage the day-to-day implementation of land and law dissemination project, providing support to project staff and Government partners, ensuring that activities are implemented based on CIDSE-Laos goals and objectives and that adequate records are kept at the CIDSE Laos Country office. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that monitoring, evaluation and timely project reporting are carried out following CIDSE-Laos guidelines and will act as the main point of contact for the project. The post will be based in the project’s site, with regular travel in the district and province, and (overnight) visits to the project villages. The Project Manager will guide the implementation of the new project. This requires strong management and communication skills as the job includes financial responsibility for the project, the achievement of the project goals within the agreed time frame and budget, the quality of the project deliverables and team work and personnel management.
