Job DescriptionMedics ANNOUNCEMENT VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR LAO NATIONAL Background: Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a non-governmental organisation with close links to the Norwegian labour movement. NPA is involved in humanitarian relief and long term development cooperation in more than 30 countries. NPA is one of the world’s leading organisations involved in humanitarian mine action. The NPA Head Office is located in Oslo, Norway. Norwegian people’s aid (NPA) has been engaged in the UXO sector in Laos since 1997 and has worked in partnership with UXO Lao. and with operational teams in Saravan since 2009. NPA is now expanding its programme in Saravan to include five additional Clearance teams. In line with this there is a need for staff recruitment. NPA is seeking 7 medics – 7 medic’s requirement (7 positions) Tasks and responsibilities • All 7 medics are working under their Field manager and Technical Advisor to support on medical to Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and 5 medics are based on Saravan and other provinces • Successfully complete a 6 week basic trauma training course in Vientiane, passing several theory and practical tests. (Funded by NPA) • Move with field teams in the field carrying medical equipment being ready to provide trauma care in case of injury or accident • Be positioned at a field safety vehicle with a driver and be ready to provide trauma care in case of injury or accident • Act as person to meet visitors and get medical details before they enter the field site • Be able to communicate by radio to the field manager if required • Conduct first aid refresher training with staff as required Qualified requirement • -Age 20 – 35 years old • Suitable to be trained and can pass written and practice tests • -Candidate is from Ta oy, Samauoy, and Saravane province is preferable • Can work alone or in small groups in outdoor field working and living conditions • Highly responsibility of the tasks and have strong willingness to succeed the goal • Be able to work under pressure and work as a team • Active candidate, be a good decision maker and deal with situations • Good health and be ready to handle with accident on medic kits • Good character and attitude. Get along with the local people and adjust her/himself to all kind of conditions, basic socio-economic, tribes, cultures and religious • He/she has never been a criminal An Advantage • Previous medical diploma or training (Not essential) • Speaking English (Not essential) NPA offer -Interesting and challenge job Only short lists will be contacted for an interview and successful candidate will be recruited and be contracted monthly basic during probation period.
