After 5 years of successful self management, Lotus Villa Boutique Hotel in Luang Prabang, Laos, is looking for a General Manager to continue its tradition.

We are looking for a high performing General Manager that is willing to fit into the existing management and structure of Lotus Villa. We require the manager sto ensure that all customer expectations are met by maintaining high service levels. You will be responsible for managing the experienced Front and Back of House staff to deliver a clear point of difference within the Luang Prabang hotels. The ability to communicate with a diverse range of customers and employees is essential to continue Lotus Villa’s rating within the top hotels with Trip Advisor.

The ideal person will have extensive front of house knowledge, with a minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a quality restaurant/bar/service industry environment. Importantly, you would have worked, lived or experienced significant lengths of time in Asia, understanding cultural differences and be able to manage the hotel to our standards.

Job Description

Manage daily running of the hotel for 6 days a week, approximately 42 hours per week

Be available to ‘chat’ with guests during their visit typically during breakfast or early evening before dinner.

Investigate any guest complaint and initiate corrective action if needed.

Deal with the general public, customers, employees, and (occasional) government officials with tact and courtesy.

Continue the existing level of community involvement, and existing systems that assures consistent guest, staff and owner satisfaction.

Execute marketing, sales, and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the hotel’s current business.

Make reservations by responding accurately to guests emails and manage the external yield control systems

Direct regular checks and supervise building maintenance

Keep accurate daily accounts and prepare monthly financial reports for the owners

Manage selection, training and performance of staff members.

Supervise 2 Heads of Departments, a total of 12 long-term employees, including House Keeping and Front of House staff and a Maintenance man.

Plan, assign, and direct daily work activity, including appraisal of staff performance and subsequent reward and discipline.

Conduct any job interviews and subsequent training.

Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests, including emergency and security procedures.

Maintain an effective open-door communication system with staff

Other duties may be assigned.


The General Manager position requires either a two year business degree or a four year business or liberal arts degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience, or experience as a self-employed).

Have proficient level of spoken and written English (a second Asian or European language would be an advantage)
